This is the story of Nada Atwi, a woman in her seventies who challenged stereotypes by becoming a taxi driver in Lebanon, offering rides exclusively to women. After the country’s economic collapse in 2019, finding work at her age was nearly impossible, so she entered a field long dominated by men. While some criticized her choice as “shameful,” Nada believes the real shame lies in depending on others instead of working. For her, driving is not only a livelihood but also a way to provide safe transportation for women—especially those who are veiled or conservative—while inspiring others to confront social taboos. With resilience and determination, she dreams of expanding her initiative into a larger project with cars, staff, and an office, proving that no profession is out of reach for women.
