This story is about a grieving mother from Bab al-Tabbaneh who lost her son, Omar, to a sniper’s bullet in 2012, just days before Eid. His death left her devastated, unable to enter her home, and filled with anger toward the conflict that took him. When she first joined a program that brought together women from Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen, she struggled to interact with them, since those battles had caused her son’s death.

But through shared stories of loss of sons, husbands, and loved ones, she realized they were all victims of a war they never chose. Over time, friendships formed, and the women pledged to stand together as a human shield if men tried to fight again. Now, she honors her son’s memory by working, finding strength, and hoping for peace, love, and unity in Lebanon, so that no family has to endure such pain again.
